The story behind Mzinga
Mzinga: We know it's an unusual name, but then again, we're an unusual company.
When we began the process of launching a company that would revolutionize enterprise employee and customer communities, we knew we needed a name that would reflect not only our business, but the values we wanted to establish and the company we wanted to create. That's a pretty tall order.
In our brainstorming sessions, we kept coming back to bees – and beehives, in particular, really resonated with us.
You see, the beehive has long been used as a symbol of industry, teamwork, perseverance, and community. In Freemasonry, for example, the beehive is a prominent symbol of industry and cooperation that's associated with their highest degree, Master Mason. And beehives have been found in hieroglyphics created thousands of years ago.
The beehive represents the productivity and success that can be achieved when groups work cooperatively for the greater good. As a company whose focus would be enabling businesses to harness the intrinsic power of their communities, we knew we couldn't find a more apt symbol to represent us to the world.
In our research, we discovered that in Swahili, the word for "beehive" is mzinga. It was perfect for us – memorable, evocative, and as unusual as we are.
So that's how we became Mzinga. And we promise that the success and productivity that are inherent in our name are exactly what we're committed to delivering to you, our customers.
